Maid of Dishonor

So I know I’m a bit behind the 8 ball here, but I finally managed to watch Bridesmaids. Two things surprised me about this Judd Apatow movie, a) its funny, b) its good! All I’ve heard about this movie is that it’s the female version of The Hangover, it’s not, but it’s good to finally see a movie where girls behave badly and are pretty good at it!

Real life friends and co-stars on Saturday Night Live, Kristen Wiig (Annie) and Maya Rudolph (Lillian) play lifelong best friends in this movie and you can tell that the chemistry between them on screen is real.

Plot – Single gal Annie is asked to be maid of honor for Lillian only to find herself in competition with Helen (Rose Byrne) the wife of Lillian’s fiancé’s boss, things pretty much go downhill for Annie from here on in with Annie’s life slowly falling apart around her.

This is a smart ensemble with great performances by all the gals on screen, it also portrays realistic woman in all shapes and sizes (praise the lord, finally).

This is another Apatow film, with Wiig as co-writer. She writes herself a realistic character in Annie that I think a lot of woman can relate to. She also writes a killer scene that takes place in a hoity toity bridal store where the bridesmaids contract food poisoning ( I laughed so much in this scene that I actually snorted out loud, so embarrassing).

The opening sex scene is cringe worthy and really funny and you know what else is cool about this movie, that chicks can pull off an Apatow movie just like the blokes can!

I feel a sequel coming on.
