We spoke recently about Director extraordinaire Park Chan-Wook the man responsible for the awesome Old Boy movie, well Park has since become one of the world’s most talked about filmmakers (rightly so) his even made it onto (Quentin Tarantino’s list of favourite movies since 1992 with Joint Security Area).
There is talk that Park will make his English language debut with Stoker, from the script by Wentworth Miller (the young stud muffin from Prison Break) who knew?
Stoker tells the story of an estranged uncle (Matthew Goode – Watchmen, A Single Man) returning to the family town after the death of a young girl’s father. After a series of missing person cases that strikes through the community, the young girl begins to suspect the possibility of her uncle’s involvement.
Now here is the good news, Park has three Australian woman secured in the lead roles including Mia Wasikowska (Jane Eyre) as the investigative teen, Nicole Kidman (Tom Cruise’s ex) as her mother and grieving widow (snore…again with the grieving Nicole) and Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) in an unknown role, talk about liking the Australian ladies!
Jackie has really hit her stride in the US since her Oscar nomination with Animal Kingdom, just goes to show you’re never too old to make it in La La land. Congrats girrrl!
