Am I alone in finding Gerald Butler extremely annoying? I mean, I was willing to tolerate his measly existence when sometime-genius writer/director Zack Snyder’s 2006 300 launched him into popular consciousness. But what happened after is cliché Hollywood BS.
The latest offering from the Scottish lothario is obviously some misled misconception that the general populus is ready to see him as a household name; and therefore he as a brand is ready to take on “dramatic” roles. Please. I’m not even sure whether the guy has charisma or the “x” factor that truly is the core of the essential movie star genetic make-up. This latest offering is Machine Gun Preacher; the story of a former drug-dealing biker who finds God in the big house then becomes a crusader for Sudanese children who are forced to become soldiers. Are you f##cking serious?
After crapolo flicks like P.S. I Love You, The Ugly Truth and the predictably poor-jen-vacuous The Bounty Hunter, how are we supposed to bother getting vaguely interested in a mediocre tabloid manipulator who is obviously desperate for some sort of credibility. Who knows if it gets a cinema release in Oz as reviews OS are shite so far. I say avoid it.
Make him go away!
