Ok people. Life has interrupted my film writing so its time to get back on board. 2013 is quickly racing ahead. Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, as much as I may revolt at such things. Which means… time to look at someone who is going to be everywhere!

If you don’t know the name Nicholas Hoult, get ready; and also, let me remind you. In 2002, Hoult was the child actor aside Hugh Grant in the endearing film About A Boy. A few sporadic roles did continue, but it was the lead role in TV’s Season 1&2 of the UK’s controversial Skins that pushed him into global view closer to adulthood. Through these roles he was cast alongside Colin Firth’s lead in Tom Ford’s surprising, and critically acclaimed film, 2009’s A Single Man. Ensemble cast roles in 2010’s Clash of the Titans and 2011’s X-Men: First Class followed. Personally, these last two were flawed (to say little), but for a young actor who chooses few, these roles were part of blockbusters that made squillions, despite their downfalls.

So, it is unsurprising there would come a time when Hoult would start rolling them out. With a high-profile girlfriend (Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games), and an unusually low-profile attitude to said relationship, Hoult has two films coming out in the first half of 2013. Released on 21.03.13 in Oz we have Jack the Giant Killer. Co-starring the heart-warming Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, and (a personal fav) Bill Nighy, the Brian Singer (X-Men) directed flick is a big CGI blockbuster with Hoult cast as Jack. Next, we have Warm Bodies released 11.04.13 in Oz. I’ll leave you to check that out. Zombie love-story and all. Very cool.

Support this guy. As mentioned, Tom Ford had a lot to prove when he cast the young Mr Hoult. And control-freak is undoubtedly an understatement for Mr Ford. Bless ‘em. Check him out. Hoult is a natural on-screen.
